Procedures for the Military Competency Exam and Certification

Make an appointment for your FAA Exam

Exam Procedures:

  1. Schedule your appointment at the above link to take the exam

  2. Study the gouge

  3. The cost of the exam is $105.00.  Payment can be either cash or a check made out to Coastal Bend Aviation. Sorry, we do not accept credit cards.

  4. Two (2) forms of ID are required.  Without two acceptable forms of ID, you will not be able to take any FAA exam. Acceptable forms of ID are:

  • State issued ID/Drivers License

  • Military ID

  • Social Security Card

  • Passport

  • Alien Residency (Green) Card

  • Pilots License

After the Exam

You will need to meet with Dennis Bazemore to process your certificate.  Call Mr. Bazemore to set up an appointment at (361) 229-3011.  You will need to bring him:

  1. $100.00 for the certificate processing fee (cash or check only)

  2. A copy of your instrument rating application (found in your NATOPS jacket)

  3. A copy of your Designation/Completion letter which states that you are a winged aviator (presented to you with your winging certificate)

  4. The test report of the FAA Military Competence Test from Coastal Bend Aviation.

  5. If you have T-34 or T-6 time - Logbook showing a Military PIC checkout or 10 hours PIC in the category and class of aircraft sought within the preceding 12 calendar months

  6. Any FAA pilot certificates you currently hold.  If you have misplaced your certificate, please call Mr. Bazemore for instructions.

  7. Prior to meeting with Mr. Bazemore, you will need to register with the FAA on the IACRA website.  Mr. Bazemore can answer your questions for this procedure.

  8. FAA medical (if you have one). A medical is not required to process your paperwork.
